Zerb Breakout Privacy Policy

The app collects nothing. This explains exactly what that means.

Hackney Lane Group Ltd (“HLG”, “we”, “us”, “our”) — registered in England & Wales, Company No. 16421479.
Registered office: 7 Victoria Gardens, Wokingham, Berkshire, RG40 5YJ.
This policy covers the mobile game Zerb Breakout only. For the website and our services, see our main privacy policy.

Zerb Breakout has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no trackers, and everything about how you play stays on your device. The one exception is buying something: if you make an in-app purchase, a record of that purchase is handled for us by RevenueCat so the app knows what you own. That is the whole of it, and the rest of this page explains it. We process personal data in line with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

1. The data we collect

If you never buy anything, none. The app does not ask for your name, your email address or any other personal information, and nothing about how you play is sent anywhere. We cannot see your scores, your settings or how often you play.

If you do buy something, two things happen:

  • Google Play takes the payment. We never see your card details, your address or your name — Google handles all of that and tells us only that a purchase succeeded;
  • RevenueCat records the purchase on our behalf, so the app can tell what you own and restore it if you change phone. It stores your purchase history, your country and currency, and a random identifier it generates for your device. It is not given your name or email address, because the game never asks for either.

RevenueCat is a purchase-management service acting as our data processor. Their privacy policy is at revenuecat.com/privacy. Nothing else in the app sends anything anywhere.

2. What the app stores on your device

So the game remembers where you got to, it saves the following in your device’s local app storage:

  • Your record — shifts played, rounds held, best score, and which routes Zerb has escaped through;
  • What you have unlocked — gadgets, Shift Orders and the tricks Zerb has shown you;
  • Your Daily Shift result and streak;
  • Your best run, kept so the game can show you how you are pacing against it;
  • Your settings — sound, vibration and reduced motion.

This never leaves your device. It is not sent to us or to anyone else, and we have no copy of it. Deleting the app, or clearing its storage, deletes it permanently — we cannot restore it for you.

3. Transfer codes

The game can produce a text code containing your progress so you can move it to another device. That code is created entirely on your device and the app never transmits it. It is only shared if you choose to copy or send it yourself. Treat it like any other note: anyone who has the code can load that progress.

4. Permissions

The app does not use your camera, microphone, location, contacts, files, or any advertising or device identifier, and it asks you to grant nothing.

For completeness, the Android version declares four permissions. All are granted automatically at install rather than asked for, and none gives us any information about you:

  • Network access and network state — required by the standard Android system component the game is displayed in, and used to tell whether the device is online before contacting the Google Play billing service. The game itself sends nothing anywhere;
  • Vibration — the buzz when you slam a shutter, and nothing else. You can turn it off in the game’s settings;
  • Billing — lets the app offer in-app purchases through Google Play. Buying anything is entirely optional; the whole game is playable without spending anything, and every gadget on sale can also be earned by playing.

We list them because Google Play shows them, and we would rather explain them than have you find them unexplained.

5. Cookies and tracking

The app uses no cookies, no advertising identifiers, no analytics and no advertising of any kind. We do not build a profile of you, we do not track you between apps or websites, and nothing you do in the game is used to target anything at you.

The only third-party component in the app is RevenueCat, and it is there solely to manage purchases. It is not an analytics or advertising service.

6. Children

Zerb Breakout is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has made a purchase, contact us and we will help you with a refund and delete the record.

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have rights to access, correct, erase and restrict the use of your personal data.

If you have never bought anything, we hold nothing about you at all — the information the game saves is on your own device and entirely under your control, and there is nothing for us to give you or delete.

If you have made a purchase, we can give you a copy of the purchase record held for us by RevenueCat, or delete it. Email us at the address below and we will do it. Deleting it means the app can no longer restore those purchases to a new device, so we will say so before we do it.

Google keeps its own record of the transaction as the seller, which we cannot delete on your behalf. For that, use Google’s own privacy controls on your Google account.

You also have the right to complain to the UK’s data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk.

8. Changes to this policy

If a future version of the game adds advertising, in-app purchases or analytics, we will update this policy and the app’s store listing before that version is released, and we will say plainly what changed and what is then collected.
